Volunteer Needs 3-5-2010

Think spring...think spring...think spring! That's what I tell myself everyday. I love when the weather gets nice again, it's such a great feeling. It also means the start of outside volunteer projects again! And who doesn't like to get outside?! So keep that in mind as the weather gets nicer. :)

The Volunteer Center would like to congratulate our February 2010 Take a Volunteer to Lunch winner Amy Wood, who volunteers at the Lafayette Crisis Center. She will receive a lunch for two at Lafayette Brewing Co. She has spent over 350 hours providing crisis intervention with compassion to those in need. Not only does she provide a caring ear to those in distress, she also serves the Crisis Center in other areas. Amy is a Crisis Center Trainer and helps train new trainers and volunteers. Congratulations Amy and Thank You Lafayette Brewing Co.!

Random Volunteer Fact:
A study in Washington D.C. came up with the top 3 reasons why people volunteer:
1. They feel compassion for people in need.
2. They feel needed.
3. Volunteering gives them a new perspective on their community.

Why do you volunteer? (Feel free to comment!)
