Volunteer Opportunities 9-25-2009

Are you interested in volunteering in the Greater Lafayette community??? Then check out the opportunities below! There are many great things going on in the community and here is a way for you to leave your mark. To volunteer at any of the following, please contact Sammi at samantha@uw.lafayette.in.us.


Do you like to organize? The Volunteer Center is looking for someone to assist a community member organize and de-clutter her home for the fall.

Lafayette Urban Ministry is in need of volunteer case managers to help our shelter guests become self sufficient. Volunteers would follow up on goals set by the guests and myself. Volunteers are needed from 10:00 a.m. - noon and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Volunteers do not need to be available all day. Just a few hours a week and become volunteer on a regular weekly schedule.

American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2nd Annual 5K Walk is looking for volunteers to help us before, during and after the event. Date: Saturday October 10 2009 at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) from 9:00am to 1:00.

Wabash Center is seeking volunteers for its newest division, Tippecanoe Adult Guardianship Services, which provides assistance to incapacitated adults who need someone to assist them accessing care and social services. Training begins Monday, October 19, from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, and continues every Monday & Wednesday for five weeks.

Volunteers are needed for setting up and making props, for a Haunted House called the “Crypt of Terror.” Adults are needed to help every Friday from 9/11/09 thru 10/09/09 during the day. Homestead Consulting Services and Jefferson High School Choral Department are partnering together to host a Haunted House at Market Square in the old Stein Mart building. Even if you can only volunteer part of a day or several days it would be much appreciated. No skills are necessary.

Want to make a difference in only 4 hours a month? Mental Health America is looking for volunteers to spend time with an individual recovering from a mental health challenge. Training and support is provided. Volunteers 30 and over are especially encouraged to apply!
